Kohala Science and History Lectures

Whenever possible we will record and post the lecture here so it can be watched and shared at any time. North and South Kohala districts do not have any higher education facilities and we deeply appreciate researchers and professors who take the time to come to our community to share their knowledge with us.

Dr. Mark McCoy of the University of Otago, New Zealand. March 22nd. Dr. McCoy gives a report on several years of Archaeology field work in North Kohala focusing on gulch agricultural systems. He discusses several interesting discoveries about irrigation and lo'i construction in Kohala. He also gives an update on research on religious structures in the legendary Kohala field system and efforts to identify the origins of stone tools based on their chemical composition. Unfortunately this recording only covers the first 45 minutes of an hour long lecture.
